The University of Queensland’s Customs House is one of Brisbane’s premier restaurant, events and heritage destinations. Behind the grand Corinthian columns you will find exquisite boardrooms, a stunning ballroom, seminar rooms and a restaurant.
Customs House is regarded as one of Brisbane’s most awarded function venues. Customs House caters for both corporate and private functions and is a spectacular venue for a wedding reception. The restaurant provides seating inside in beautiful heritage surroundings or outside on the terrace overlooking the river and the Story Bridge.
Restoration works at Customs House
Essential roof restoration works will be carried out at Brisbane’s Customs House to repair
natural wear and tear.
Starting in July 2024, the works are expected to take about 3 months. Customs House will remain open
and every effort will be made to minimise disruption.

History
Customs houses were built in all major Australian ports in the nineteenth century. Customs and excise duties were an important source of revenue, levied on goods from overseas and in some cases from other colonies.
